I have been attending Explorers Club meetups since a long time. Explorers Club is the platform where “explorers” do presentations of their journeys. There are most amazing journeys like biking from china to europe or skiing all the way from Austria, Switzerland, France to Italy. I loved listening these stories and seeing the amazing photos.
Last week the organizer of the group sent a message to all members saying that they were looking for one last presenter. I wanted to apply. I had a nice journey in Thailand and had nice stories. And I wanted to again feel all the sensations of being on the stage and share my story. But something stopped me. My own mind chatter. It said: "Who am I to apply? Everybody has been in Thailand. It is not that I suffered on the way without food and water or I fought with the storms to find my way. It was a pleasant journey. But not a journey for the Explorers Club. It is not good enough." I did not apply that day. But then I said to myself: 'Why am I stopping myself? I want to do it. If they don’t find it fitting, they should tell me. But I will not stop myself, I will try.' I answered to the message of the organiser saying that I was willing to present and described what I wanted to talk about. He said: "A big part of travel is the interesting characters you meet and random funny and unexpected things that happen along the way, right? So, I like your idea!“ Yay!
Last Friday I presented. It felt great to be there. I got a lot positive feedback from the audience. They said they loved the stories. The next speaker also quoted me and shared a similar story. It felt so good. That was a great win for me and a great lesson. When you have something in mind, go for it! Don’t let your mind chatter stop you. How about you? What are your wins? Share with us:)
